It's Been a While (a very long while!)

Well, its been a good few years since I last posted in this and so much has happened.  Where to start?

The blanket was finally finished in November last year and now lives with me.  The knee has improved but will need further surgery eventually to replace it!  We have moved house again and live in Bedfordshire and have done so for the past year and a half.  I am now married and have a beautiful baby girl who is 3 months old and the blanket adorns her cot.

I went to the Spring Knitting and Stitch show in Olympia yesterday with a friend and I have to say it was much improved from the previous years.  The new hall looked great with all the light and there was so much space to move around.  One of the negatives was that the food was a little pricey so will be taking our own food next year.

We took in a workshop from the Cross Stitch Guild about hardanger and we are now not so scared to try it.  Jane Greenoff was lovely and gave some really good advice to help us along. I have been trying out new techniques to add a little interest to my embroidery and hope that hardanger and drawn thread work will help do this once I get it to look presentable.

My Work in Progress at the minute is a traditional sampler I bought from the CSG but I don't have any pictures to show you at the moment as my camera is a bit iffy at the moment.

Speak to you soon!

Weekend

Beautiful sunshine at the moment although it was not like this earlier on. Horribly windy and wet. Rain lashing the windows earlier this morning. Perfect day for knitting and stitching. Sadly I have neither to hand and am listening to the rugby online. May have to log on to one of the craft websites I am a member of and have a natter with a few of the other members.

Knee is much better although is still painful and the exercises are getting harder to do. Did not have many trick or treaters last night and had a lovely curry while watching Strictly. Zoe should still be in and Craig should be out, he came last! Rant over about that for now anyway.

Helped my Mam babysit niece number one yesterday and she was lovely. Very happy little girl, very easily pleased. My other brother came over with niece number two and she is such a cheeky little thing now that she can crawl a little you can see her looking for trouble and mischief! Both pretty little girls though.

Thats pretty much it for now. Will give a visual update of the blanket when I get home and have the camera.
Love to you all!X

Late post

Well I have finally gained access to the internet. It has been a bit of a bother but I have got there in the end. Technology is not my forte.

No pictures this time of the blanket but Pooh bear is nearly done and then it is Eyeore to do. The backstitch is not going to be that much of a problem. I will post pictures when I return home. Had a few visitors but I have people to talk to in the evening instead of all by myself. Yeah!

My Parents's cats seem happy that I am here as they get to stay in all day as I don't go out anywhere.
I have to admit daytime TV is starting to get me down a bit but it won't be long until I am back to work and complaining that I am too tired so I should just enjoy this for how long it will last. It was something that did need to be done. Ok thats enough self pity for one week!
May go out next week for lunch with my sister-in-laws, which will be nice to have a girly chat and giggle.

Love to you all!

Lovely Saturday

Miserable day today. My little beloved cats have gone into a cattery for two weeks, they were not very happy. They sounded like little babies when they were in the carry boxes. The weather is miserable not that I can go outside for any length of time as crutches do take a fair bit of negotiating!
Yet to pack but I will get to it shortly as soon as my boyfriend has brought the suitcase from out of the loft (which could take some time as there is sport on telly on a saturday, all day).
Have not got many plans today apart from stitching and do my exercises which I need to add a bit of weight for resistance. Could be quite painful!
Love to you all on this Saturday!

Time off!

Time for an update me thinks.

Had a physio appointment yesterday and I have made some good progress with my knee movement, only 3 degrees off from being perfectly straight and bending to the same angle as my other knee so thats good. Off to the North East on Sunday for two weeks so will try and post from up there but the internet connection is a bit funny up there.

The blanket has gone well in the past couple of days. Nearly have Tigger finished, just his tail in colour blending to do then he is done! That will leave Pooh, Eyeore, the background and backstitch to do!

Very hopeful that I can get it finished for Christmas. It will be a nice surprise for my brother and my sister in law who adores Disney and especially Pooh and friends.

Went out for lunch with my MIL and we had a lovely time in a farm shop and tea room with lots of home made cakes. Succumbed to a pot of home made raspberry jam and fresh bread! Yummy!

Love to you all!

New Blogger

Well this is the start of something new for me. I am completely new to blogging. I have some time to pass whilst I recover from knee surgery I had 2 weeks ago. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Carly, I have 2 cats called Max and Suzy and live in the sunny (although not all the time) county of Leicestershire.

I started a Disney Afghan Blanket when my older brother announced that he and his wife were expecting the patter of tiny feet. I had bought this kit in America and at the time it was quite a bargain given the current dollar to pound ratio. It was going on lovely when for some reason or another I stopped and left it unloved for weeks on end. Before I knew it Beth had arrived and I had to quickly make a little bunny with a stitched motif on the bib. It turned out very well! I thought that I could finish the blanket in time for the Christening some 7 months after she was born but disaster struck when the chart went AWOL.

After some furious searching on the internet and the makers of the kit a new chart was flying across the ocean to me. So now I hope to have it finished for Christmas or her 1st birthday in February.

Sorry the picture has come out a bit on the side. New to this technology business!
Fingers crossed!

Love to you all!
